About This Game CrossWorlds: Escape is a hardcore game in which you will have to deploy all your skills to survive in a huge open world that is susceptible to changes in weather, seasons and various natural phenomena. You have to start from scratch, supplying yourself with food, tools, clothing and shelter. You need to protect yourself against enemies who may turn out to be stronger than you, and you have to prepare for winter and summer. When buying it I read several reviews first and expected it to be in much rougher shape than it is.FIrst off, I love the changing weather. It adds a whole new depth and sense of urgency that is lacking in other games. The building is fluid and quick though a lot of work to gather things which is alright by me. Hunting is hard but also how it should be I think. There is enough content to keep you busy with just enough struggle to make it realizstic. ANd no you dont have to wear your fingers out like it stated in another review when cutting down trees. You only need to click and hold down and it will continue cutting for you.I have ran into a few bugs but nothing game breaking. For some reason my water icon keeps popping up in my chest inventory when I look inside covering the item that really is in there. There are still several issues that need to be addressed though the developers made a good start with the sliding settings at the start of a game so you can set how quickly you get hungry, etc. I still think that food rots way too quickly. Even dried and in the ice box things seem to go down fast. The durability of clothes is awful, It takes a lot of work killing animals to make a set of hide clothes, then they rot off you so fast. I have yet to go through my first winter and hope I survive. If you like survival games then I think you will enjoy this one. I look forward to the devs adding more content. I mean what else am I supposed to do on those long winter's nights?. Long time gamer and while have bought many games on spec, this is the first time I have been compelled to write a review. Bottom line is that Crossworlds is not ready for prime time by a long shot. The graphics and scenery are adequate to good but the action and gameplay with slowdowns and freezes makes the game almost unplayable. There are so many other well developed survival games out there such as "The Long Dark" and others that there's no reason to put a such an undeveloped Alpha game on the market for $14+. It's just not worth it even at five bucks. That said, it has promise but a long way to go and as it is in my library I'll keep peeking in on it now and again to see if the devs have given CrossworldsE it's just due and improve upon it's potential.. If I were you, I would keep an eye on this game. However, at this point it still needs quite a lot of work. Well I made it through a whole game year, so time for a review.I can understand some of the complaints about the game but underneath is a beautiful game which does things a little differently.I purchased it because it's the only game I've seen which forces you to deal with seasons. I'm not a great survival lover (only playing Minecraft, 7 Days to Die and Rising World) but I think this has a niche that's worth exploring.The game is not very forgiving at the beginning but you can alter the difficulty to change your starting season and turn off the NPC raids (or NPCs totally). It's still not easy (bless whoever thought of putting sticks in bushes) but there gives a real sense of relief and achievement when you find somewhere that might make a possible home.It can be grindy, but I think all survival games are. You need materials, food, water and clothing. It's up to you what you prioritize. I'm not sure if the chicken\/duck\/rabbit cages\/keeping works yet. I did discover by accident that I can put walls on top of walls, so I'm going to try adding a second storey to my house this game year.Check out some YT vids but be aware that most of the Let's Plays are from previous versions (no map etc). It's a shame, because it's a lovely game. Quirks which may annoy you:- Non native English speaker which can cause a few translation oddities - The chopping motion varies and can be difficult to work out if it's hit the tree or not- Please someone turn the chest noise down a bit!Things you should enjoy:- It's pretty, you can see the seasons turn even throughout the day, it doesn't just "flip", it's gradual- Varying difficulties- Lots of places to explore (deserts, caves, ruins)It's a slow burn game, I think. It was only after a few hours I really got into it. Prior to that I was trying not to get killed (again) and looking for a stick.. Crosswords is a very good game as it stands right now. Still got a ways to go. I see several people complaining about lag and fram drop but ive had none. Large map to roam around and with no map to view it makes it more of a task to survive. The developer Lex is very good about responding where he is needed in the forums and excepts suggestions and complaints very well. Ths has the making of a great game in the future for people who like survival sandbox games. So my Final review: Must have.. After 14 hours of game time.This is a unique survival game. This one has seasons and flooding. Like most survival games you have to worry about the basics. Food-Water-Shelter. Because of the seasons you have to plan ahead. Stock pile food and wood. Winter is harsh. Have to keep a fire going to stay warm. Make clothing to help resist the elements. Make a shelter. I recommend taking care of the basics before you explore the map too much, or explore places of interest.Yes there are caves, and abandoned settlements that contain good resources, however they are usually guarded by unfriendly NPC (Spiders, maneating worms, demon dog, dwarve archers) and other unknown mobs.There is a "lives system" in effect. There are these resurrection statues that represent your character lives.You start off with 2 or 3. You may build more, but if you run out of lives you can't respawn. (Unless you go to main menu and click continue)Currently only Singleplayer, with Online in the works.The game is in Alpha so it still needs a lot of work to make it more enjoyable.It is pretty hardcore IMO, and I have played many survival games.Due to this new style of Survival game featuring Seasons and Flooding\/Tides. I give this game a 8\/10.. as many have said- Lag, bad lag. overdid the graphics an under-did the gameplay. and the gameplay mechanics. got a long way to go there. ai make no sounds, wolf when attacking makes no sounds, and theres a lil uglee dwarf guy has flaming arrows -either one of these kills u evryday, today, both at once, I suppose the wolf (or fox) works with the lil dwarf guy.alls I managed to make is basic bow an that dont even kill a geese or whateva thats supposed to be the white bird by the lake, shot a deer 10 times ran out of arrows an it ran away. hope u like mushrooms, aint seen no berries they talk about, but no matter, the lil guy or the fox gonna kill you everyday anyways, or both of them at once. try somthing else- frustratingly unfinished, should be way better by now released in oct 2016.
